Eligibility for the Opportunity Scholarship Program is now open to ALL NC K12 students regardless of income or prior public school enrollment.

The Opportunity Scholarship Program is a private school scholarship funded by the State of North Carolina. Watch a video about the program on the School Choice North Carolina website. Scholarships range from approximately $3,000 - $7,000 and cover tuition and fees.

Applications open in TWO WEEKS on February 1, 2024 but the time to get ready is NOW! Here is how you can prepare:

  1. Check Your Estimated Scholarship Amount: Learn more about the Opportunity Scholarship and calculate your estimated scholarship amount.
     

  2. Set Up a MyPortal Account: Applications must be submitted through your MyPortal Account, so go ahead and set it up so that you're ready to go when applications open.

  3. Explore the Schools in Your Area: Learn more about the schools in your area, including those that are direct payment schools and accept scholarship funding. Data is still being updated on this website, so be sure to check back after February 1 for the most accurate information.
