Title: Food Service Assistant
Status: Part-time Hourly, $10.00/hour
Work Hours: Monday-Thursday 10:30-2:00, August 12th - May 20th
(on days school is in session)
Evaluation: Twice Yearly
Reports To: Cafeteria Manager & Business Manager
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Food Service Assistant to join our school cafeteria team. This part-time position involves assisting in the preparation and serving of meals to students, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food service, excellent teamwork skills, a commitment to being a dedicated Christian role model, both on and off campus, and a passion for working with children.
Qualifications
Previous experience in food service or a related field is preferred but not required.
Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen equipment.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift to 25 pounds.
Key Responsibilities
General Duties:
Assist with setting up and cleaning the serving area before and after meals.
Support the Food Service Manager and other team members with various tasks as needed.
Participate in training and development opportunities to stay informed about food service best practices.
Food Preparation and Serving:
Assist in preparing and cooking meals following established recipes and guidelines.
Serve food to students and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
Ensure portion control and presentation standards are met.
Sanitation and Safety:
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, serving areas, and equipment.
Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines as school policies and health regulations require.
Assist in the proper storage of food items, ensuring they are properly labeled and dated.
Customer Service:
Provide friendly and professional service to students, staff, and visitors.
Address any questions or concerns from students regarding meals in a helpful manner.
Foster a positive dining experience by maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
